The Golder Ranch Fire Explorer Post 216 was formed in April of 2012 and is designed to provide young men and women, aged 15-20 years old, the opportunity to explore a career in the fire service. Each Explorer class begins with a two week academy, followed by two meetings a month. At the end of the Explorers first year with the post, they will obtain CPR and First Aid Certification, have completed the entire Firefighter I and II curriculum, and basic Wildland Fire Fighter training. This education and training will culminate with a live fire exercise where students will get to fight a fire first hand.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable experience and provide an important service to their community through outreach activities.

Explorer Academies are held each summer, we are currently recruiting for our next class. If you are interested in applying to be a Golder Ranch Fire Explorer, please download and complete an application, and write a one page paper about why you are interested in a career in the fire service or public safety. The application period will be open from April 5th through May 10th. Additionally, we will be hosting two information sessions on April 17th and May 1st. Information sessions will take place in our Training Center Auditorium, located at 3845 E Golder Ranch Rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Please RSVP to Captain Josh Hurguy if you plan on attending.
